Getting Started - Salesforce Flow Learning Tools

In this post, my goal is to summarize some of the resources I've identified to assist with learning Salesforce Flow Builder. I will continue to add to this list as I uncover more videos, blogs, and podcasts. In addition, many of these resources link to other learning tools or blogs. Do you know of additional learning tools that I missed? Please share!

This list is just the beginning, for me. Here we go!

1.) Trailhead --> the most obvious place to start. There are various trails, projects, and or modules and even an automation superbadge.

2.) Automation Champion --> Learn Flow from a master. This blog is run by Rakesh Gupta, "a Mumbai based Salesforce MVP, Author - an evangelist with experience in Salesforce as a Developer, Consultant, and Architect. Best known as an automation champion in the Salesforce ecosystem." Find Rakesh on Twitter as @rakeshistom.

3.) Unofficial SF --> Website described as "the unofficial source of resources for Salesforce’s Flow product. Here, members of the community seek to provide a starting point for all useful Flow information. Note that this is NOT an official Salesforce website and that some of the content available here is not official Salesforce-supported technology."

4.) Lightning Flow Developer Center --> Includes links to getting started, documentation, and diving deeper.

5.) Jenwlee’s Salesforce Blog --> this blog run by Jennifer Lee (this lady is LIT and definitely an inspiration) on twitter as @Jenwlee.

6.) Accidental Coder - A Salesforce Blog --> has a number of Flow examples, for more practical use cases. The blog is run by Vibhor Goel, on twitter as @vibhor_uk.

7.) ForcePanda --> Blog run by Narender Singh, on twitter as @Nads_P07.

8.) Wizardcast --> the central location for blogs, videos, and podcasts created by Brian Kwong – aka Salesforce Wizard on twitter as @Kwongerific.

9.) Jordan Nelson --> Youtube videos & LinkedIn posts.

  • I've started going through Jordan's youtube videos. He tackles the different elements in the Flow Builder and describes their function. His video goals are to help people learn the elements and how they function rather than in depth use cases. In sum: GREAT for beginners like me! He also has a blog/portfolio where he has written versions of the videos in case you learn better that way.

10.) Terry's Tidbits --> Suggested by Vibhor Goel (@vibhor_uk). Terry's blog site is full of knowledge gems, and he also has a Youtube channel where he posts informational videos. He can be found on Twitter as @terrystidbits.

11.) Melanie T's Blog Post - Shares a use case of building a flow for opportunity campaign attribution. I appreciate M.T.'s approach of starting by explaining/noting each of her steps: (1) Write a general description in English of her needs and the steps to achieve it; (2) Translate step 1 notes into fields and limitations; (3) Build out the flow, factoring in limitations of the flow function [checkout her post to see some helpful limitations and tips]; (4) Debug; (5) Create button to launch the flow; (6) Deploy using a change set. I hear there are other automation gems in her blog, so check it out. Connect to Melanie on Twitter @MelanieTolomeo.
